1 Peter 5:8 says, “your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” We know the devil is not as powerful as he would like to make people think. He is not all powerful like God. Because if he was that powerful he would have kept you from receiving Jesus as Savior and Lord. But Satan’s greatest weapon is psychological warfare.
Satan wants to keep you angry, worried and guilty. But the first part of the verse in 1 Peter 5:8 says, “be sober and self-controlled.” “Be watchful.” Satan could not keep you from salvation; so now he does not want you to enjoy your salvation. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind.” So any feelings that you are having which are contrary to this are probably not from God. You may be saying, what does this have to do with God’s plan for my life. Well you have to overcome this psychological warfare in order to reach the potential God has for you.
Overcoming the psychological warfare is not only biblical; it is needed in order to live your best life. Proverbs 23:7 reads, “as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” Satan wants you to doubt about who you are and what you can become. Jeremiah 29:11 reads, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says the Lord, ”thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.”
Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” If Satan can get you to believe that God does not have a great future for you, he can prevent you from fulfilling the plan God has for your life. The greatest example of this is in the Book of Numbers chapters 13 and 14. God wanted to take his people into the Promised Land. But out of the 12 spies that surveyed the land, only Joshua and Caleb believed that they could possess the land. You must agree with God about the dreams that he placed in your heart in order to fulfill them. Don’t believe Satan’s lies about your future.
If Satan can get you to believe that you are deficient or defective, he can prevent you from fulfilling the plan God has for your life. In Matthew 22:39 Jesus said, “you should love your neighbor as yourself.” God wants you to like the person he created you to be. He made you in His image and likeness. If Satan can get you to not love the person God created you to be, he can prevent you from fulfilling the plan God has for your life. You must believe that God loves you in order to fulfill the plan He has for you. Don’t believe Satan’s lies about you!
1 Corinthians 1:26-27 says, “For you see your calling, brothers, that not many are wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, and not many noble; but God chose the foolish things of the world that he might put to shame those who are wise.” God’s not looking for the able; God is looking for the available. You must be available to God in order to fulfill the plan He has for you. Don’t believe Satan’s lies that you are not able to do what God has called you to do! Make yourself available to God today!
